JAKARTA, Sunday (27/4)-The politician from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), Guntur Romli, dismissed the news that the postponement of the 6th PDIP Congress was related to negotiations between the party bearing the bull with the government.
He asserted that the congress was an internal party affairs that had nothing to do with external dynamics, including the PDIP position of the new government.
“Congress is an internal party event, there is no connection with external problems, let alone called the matter of negotiations. We want to emphasize there are no negotiations, let alone to deal with the implementation of the congress,” Guntur told Media Indonesia.
Speculation emerged that the postponement of the 6th PDIP Congress was related to party political maneuvers in determining the direction of support for the newly formed government. But Guntur Romli strongly denied the rumors.
According to him, the congress schedule was solely decided based on the internal consideration of the party and was not influenced by any external factors.
In addition to the accusations of political negotiations, the issue also circulated that the legal process against PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto had an impact on the Congress.
Guntur returned the information. He asserted that Hasto was still actively serving as Secretary General and legal issues that wrapped him not hampering the party’s agenda.
“Hasto Kristiyanto is still the Secretary General of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle. The problem of legal criminalization to him certainly has an impact on the party, but the implementation of the congress is only waiting for the right time,” he explained.
Guntur ensured that the 6th PDIP Congress will still be held this year. With the remaining eight months in 2025, PDIP is said to not want to rush in determining the exact schedule.
“Moreover, there are still eight months in the next eight25, we don’t want to rush,” he said.
This statement also dismissed the notion that the party was in a vacuum condition or delayed an important agenda.
At present, PDIP is focusing on addressing the legal process that befell their secretary general. Efforts to defend Hasto became part of the party’s main agenda, without ignoring the preparations for the congress.
Guntur asserted, the internal dynamics is part of a natural process in facing various political challenges.
Clarification from Guntur Romli is important to end wild speculation that can damage the party’s image. Issues circulating, if not straightened, have the potential to cause political upheaval in the community.
With this statement, PDIP wants to show that the party remains solid and organized in carrying out its strategic agendas.
