PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), one of the largest banks in Indonesia, has just held an Annual General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) on Wednesday (12/3). In the meeting, a number of important changes in the company’s leadership structure were announced, including the appointment of Hendra Lembong as the sole candidate for the President Director of BCA for the 2025 period.

Hendra Lembong, who previously served as Vice President Director of BCA since 2022, will take over the top position at the company. Meanwhile, Jahja Setiaatmadja, who had been leading BCA, was proposed to fill a new position as President of Commissioner, replacing Djohan Emir Setijoso who had resigned.

This change was confirmed through an official letter of calling the AGM issued by BCA. In the letter, the company stated that the composition of the Board of Commissioners and Directors had experienced significant changes, with the appointment of Jahja Setiaatmadja as President Commissioner and Hendra Lembong as President Director.

Hendra Lembong Profile: from chemical engineering to the peak of banking career

Gregory Hendra Lembong, who was born in Jakarta on January 23, 1972, is a familiar figure in the Indonesian banking world. Although his educational background originated from the technical field – he won a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Washington, United States – Hendra decided to turn to the world of finance by taking the Masters in Economic System Science at Stanford University.

Hendra’s career in the financial industry began in 1994 when he joined Citibank as a management trainee. For 15 years working at Citibank, he occupied various strategic positions, including as the manager of the Citibank Asia Pacific regional product in Singapore and the Director of Network and EMEA Alliance of Cash Management in London, England.

In 2009, Hendra decided to move to Deutsche Bank London, where he served as Head of Business Development & Finance Trading COO and company cash management. After pursuing a brilliant career abroad, he returned to Indonesia in August 2013 and joined PT Bank CIMB Niaga Tbk.

In CIMB Niaga, Hendra quickly climbed into important positions, including as head of transaction banking, CIMB transaction banking CEOs in the Malaysian group, and Head of CIMB Fintech Officers. In January 2019, he was trusted as the Head of the CIMB Business Transformation Officers.

Career at BCA: from Director to President Director

Hendra Lembong began his career at BCA in 2019 as director, where he was responsible for the development of PT Central Capital Ventura and PT Bank Digital BCA. In 2022, he was appointed Vice President Director, overseeing the performance of the company’s finance and planning director.

Now, after going through a long and full achievement career, Hendra Lembong was officially appointed as President Director of BCA, replacing Jahja Setiaatmadja who turned to the position of President Commissioner.
