Arsenal managed to advance to the quarter-finals of the Champions League despite only drawing 2-2 against PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of the last 16. The match held at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday (13/3/2025) early morning WIB confirmed Arsenal’s aggregate victory with a score of 9-3, after previously winning 7-1 in the first leg.

Course of the Match

Arsenal immediately showed their dominance by scoring a quick goal in the sixth minute through Oleksandr Zinchenko. The spectacular goal was created from a long-range shot that slid into the corner of the PSV goal. However, PSV did not remain silent and managed to equalize the score in the 18th minute thanks to Ivan Perisic’s accurate shot from inside the penalty box.

In the 37th minute, Arsenal regained the lead after Declan Rice met Raheem Sterling’s corner with a header that was difficult for PSV goalkeeper Walter Benitez to anticipate. The first half ended with a score of 2-1 to Arsenal’s advantage.

The second half was slower with Arsenal taking control of the game through short passes. PSV looked less aggressive in pursuing the ball, but they managed to equalize in the 70th minute. Driouech scored a clever goal, lifting the ball over Raya and into the net.

There were no additional goals scored in the remaining time of the match. The score remained 2-2 until the end, but Arsenal still advanced to the quarter-finals thanks to a 9-3 aggregate victory.

Analysis and Reaction

This 9-3 aggregate victory confirms Arsenal’s dominance throughout the two legs of the match. Despite drawing in the second leg, Mikel Arteta’s team’s performance remained solid.
